This wonderfully ornate Tribal Necklace was handcrafted in the traditional Laghmani style of detailed metalwork, enameled accent colors; and 3-dimensional pendants all around. The large central pendant has two tiers and blue turquoise underlay, also classic in jewelry from this region. It was handcrafted by Tribal Jewelry artisans living along the Afghan border.
About Laghman Province: Laghman is one of several provinces in the remote mountainous regions of eastern Afghanistan. It is one of the few provinces with abundant natural wildlife and lush valleys that remain green all year. Located along the old Silk Road in the Himalayan foothills, Laghman province enjoyed centuries of cultural and goods exchange with both the East and the West. With the demise of the old trade routes, today Laghman province is less frequently traveled, but retains its distinctive jewelry tradition. It is also renowned for some of the finest gem mines in the world, including emeralds, aquamarine, and tourmaline.
